The IoT is all the rage. New products are emerging every week. However, most of the the common, IP-connected consumer devices are islands. Unifying them into a truly functional home takes a lot of work, if it's even possible. In past, this was based upon costly, sophisticated home automation systems or simplistic services like IFTTT. While popular, IFTTT has proven to be very limited in scope.
Into the gap steps Yonomi, a new mobile app that that aims to be a unifying force in consumer IoT. Yonomi supports dozens of devices. In my home it provides the glue that allows the Amazon Echo to control Philips Hue and Belkin WEMO lights, with logical capabilities beyond a simple if/then statement.
